Diaper Bag on a Budget

I'm all about finding a good deal... heck that's what my blog is all about.  So here is my good deal find.

When you become a mom you're all about finding a bag that will not only hold your things but your babies things as well. Of course the more kids you have the more things you are packing as well.

I have had a petunia pickle bottom bag for a few years and have loved it.  The only down side is it's so hard to find things in that bag.  I do have a older bag so I know they have designed it differently and have come out with a bag with more space. But those bags don't come cheap. Insert saving mom now....

I started doing my research on finding a good diaper bag back pack for a good price but wasn't getting a cheap looking bag. I came across the SOHO bag. It only had a few reviews but all of them were really good. I needed a diaper bag back pack for my upcoming trip to Florida with my family. I wanted something that fit a good amount of stuff with out having it put a lot of pressure on my shoulders. This bag would be used at DisneyWorld and more wonderful places that we are going. Plus having strollers straps that comes with the bag was a big deal for me.

I found this bag on amazon for $20 dollars. That's right $20 dollars. It wasn't $20 dollars when I put it in my wish list, but the thing I love about amazon is they will email you when  an item in your cart/wish list goes down in price.

So far I am loving this bag. It's been so easy getting it on and off plus in and out of my car. There is more stuff in this bag and it feels so light. I'm excited to test this baby out on my trip!!

Train Costume

This Halloween I wanted to make my kids costumes. I have said this for years but just haven't been able to do all of them because they don't think of what they want to be until a few weeks prior. Every year my family has a tradition of doing a family party at my Aunt and Uncles home. It's been going on for years and one of my favorite things to go too. This year the party was sooner in the month which made me more determined to get the costumes made on time

My son who is almost 4 kept telling me he wanted to be a ghost train for Halloween.  I kept asking him what kind of costume he wanted and he told me just a train. So I hit the web and started looking for ideas. I found a few pictures on Pinterest and showed them to my son. He then saw one that was a black train and told me that was it. My mom brain started to do some thinking of how I was going to put this together. Luckily my mom has a bunch of boxes in her basement and I found one that worked.

I took a paper box along with a shoe box and a toilet paper roll.

I cut a hole in the top and made sure I had room for the toilet paper roll and for the shoe box. I then cut the lid in half and put it on the back. I hot glued the shoe box and the lid. I used duct tap to make sure It wasn't going to fall off. I then took the other half of the lid and marked a curve on the side and glued that to the front.

After I made sure everything was glued or tapped on good. I duct tapped the entire box. I tried to find black construction paper but I couldn't find any by me. It was insane how many stores I went to in search for black paper.  But the duct tap worked great and it was cheap.

After I tapped it all up I added straps to the train. I ended up using some scrap black ribbon that I had lying around.  I glued them on and then tapped them.  I then duct taped the toilet paper roll to make it black and glued it on.

For the wheels I cut out extra cardboard and used white paper to make the spokes.  For the front I used a paper bowl and made it look like Thomas who turned into a Ghost.  That's what my son wanted. I used one of my sons trains to get an idea of how to do the trim around the train. I used red card stock and tapped that on.

This costume cost me a total of $8 dollars.

Top Quality Clothes on a Budget

I've been doing some research on finding clothes that are good quality for a smaller price. I love higher quality clothes because they last longer and you know you're getting your moneys worth if you do spend more. But sometimes that's not always the case.

We can fork out a ton of money for a cute dress, shirt or jeans. And then we notice after a few washes or wears it's pilling (balls all over your clothes) and or getting holes in it. It's super frustrating. Even when you are on a tight budget.

I've heard about a few websites that sell cute good quality clothes for a cheaper price. I was skeptical at first. I'm mean who wouldn't be when it comes to cute clothes that are really cheep. I was surprised when I checked out Shein and Romwe. They have a lot of the same clothes but can be cheeper on the other sites.  So far I have purchased a hand full of tops and have been extremely satisfied.

This is a top I got off of Shein for $12 bucks!!! It reminds me of a shirt I wore when I was in elementary. haha I love the detail on the front and how it still makes me feel like I'm a grown up but not a sloppy mom. The fabric is extremely soft and so comfortable to wear. I did notice that the top is cropped shorter than I normally like to have my shirts be. So I would defiantly recommend wearing it with high rise
jeans/shirt.

Feeling Guilty

Today I wanted to talk about feeling guilty for the simple things in life...

I've recently started listening to a podcast called Bold New Mom.  She talks about the many things that are tough about being a mom and how to be a better mom. One of the podcast that I recently listen to was about not feeling guilty when it come to focusing on you. I'm one who does this often.

For me being a Mom means putting everyone first and if you have time during the day then you can do something for you. I normally don't have much time for myself so usually just put my needs off to the side and tell myself I'll get to me later. And of course when later comes I normally don't have time.

Now I know that I need to make time for myself every once in a while. Even if it's just for a few minutes during the day. One thing that I love to do is shop! It makes me feel better and I get really excited when I buy something new for my family and or myself. I know that times can be tough and it's hard to put any extra money towards you when you have kids and or a spouse that needs things.  Last year we had to have a tight budget. Any extra money that we had left over went to the kids. One thing that was extremely hard for me to do was take my oldest daughter out of dance because we couldn't afford it.  It was heart breaking for me... I eventually got over the whole spill and realized that it was more important to have food on the table than having my daughter in dance.  So when it comes to keeping a tight budget or not having extra funds I get it.

Here are a few tips on how to go about focusing on you. Sit down with your spouse and go over your budget.  See where you can cut back.  One of the things that we realized we were paying way to much for was cable TV. We decided that we get most of our shows through Netflix or Hulu and it was  much cheaper.  Once you have figured out where you can cut back then you can revaluate if you can add an allowance for both you and your spouse.  When my husband and I first did this I mostly used that allowance to buy things for my kids. Once they had what they needed I started to slowly buy things for myself. And let me tell you it wasn't easy... Coming from someone who loves to shop but has been on an extremely tight budget for two years it was very hard.  It still is hard sometimes and that guilt would start to creep in.

When the guilt starts to creep in keep on reminding yourself that you have a HARD job. You raise tinny humans and they all survive each day. That's deserves some kind of reward.  We have to focus on us because if we don't we lose our self and trying to find ourselves again can be a long overwhelming process.

So, to wrap things up I wanted to say that you are amazing you deserve to get something for yourself. Take it slow don't go super crazy at first because the guilt will creep up on you. Being a mom is tough and I think as a mom we all need to come together and remind ourselves of how awesome we are and that what we do is HARD work and we can do it. We can be a happy mom in a happy home.

Benefits of Maskcara Makeup

Some of you may have already heard about this amazing makeup and maybe it's a new thing for you. Whether it's new or old I wanted to tell you about the FIVE amazing benefits of using Maskcara.

MASKCARA IS EASY TO USE!

Maskcara makeup is so easy to use my six year old can apply it.  It takes me less than five minutes to do a quick application for my everyday face. Plus another benefit is you can add more details to your eyes, lips and cheeks for a night out look.

MASKCARA IS LIGHT

Maskcara is so light it doesn't even feel like you're wearing any makeup! You can apply it lightly or go a little more if you want more coverage. It helps hide those blemishes with out looking flat. Maskcara gives you the Highlight and Contour for that IIID look. We all have great angles to our faces and Maskcara doesn't hide that. It enhances your beauty.

MASKCARA IS AFFORDABLE

Maskcara is a professional makeup at a target price!! You don't get that often or lets face it... AT ALL.  With options to costimize your palette to your face you can look yourself with out covering up your face and looking flat as most foundations do. A starter kit starts at $78 dollars, that's including the HAC brush which is a must for applying. (artists special is $5 off HAC brush) And that right there will last you 3-6 months if not longer. I've had my makeup for 5 months and still going strong!! So if you think about paying $78 over 6 months that's $13 dollars a month for makeup... talk about cheap!!!! I don't know any other company that will give you amazing makeup for that cheap! Plus you can order your makeup right at home. No need to load the kids up in the car and run to the store.  You can even keep on adding as much as you need with one easy click. Everything is delivered to your door.

MASKCARA IS SLEEK AND SIMPLE

Maskcara has made it so easy to use and carry around with you. They have designed compacts that fit all of your makeup so all you have to do is grab your compact and HAC brush and go!! I love how simple it is and the compacts they have designed are gorgeous. You'll get people asking you where you got that cute compact when you're in public!  Plus the compacts make it so much easier to store your makeup. I use to have so much makeup in a drawer and I would have to dig through it to find what I was looking for. Now my makeup is so simple and easy to grab!

MASKCARA ENHANCES YOUR NATURAL BEAUTY

Maskcara  doesn't cover up your face and make you look flat like most foundations. It enhances your beauty. Every woman is a beautiful woman and Maskcara has come out with a product that helps enhance that. I have self image issues and have always felt that I wasn't pretty. Maskcara has made me have more confidence. I have never been a makeup person. I would do the normal routine of just plopping foundation on my face and add some blush. Now that I've been using Maskcara for five months I feel more confident about how to apply makeup and able to enhance the features I like about my face. I have become a different person because of this makeup and I hope that this will help you make that step in GETTING OUT THERE GORGEOUS.

Friday Night... Pizza Night!!!

Call me crazy but I like to keep things simple when it comes to my food menu. It may be boring that we have pizza every Friday night, but my kids love it... And who doesn't love pizza on a Friday night.

I wanted to share my favorite and easiest pizza recipe. It really is so simple and my kids love to help make it.

Pizza Dough
1 Tbsp of Yeast
1 cup warm water.
(mix well till yeast has dissolved and let sit for 5 minutes)
2-3 cups of flour
1Tbsp of vegetable oil
1Tbsp of honey
(add veg oil first than honey. It will help the honey not stick to the tablespoon)

Gradually add floor to your dough. You want your dough to not be sticky. Let rise for 15 minutes. Depending on where you live you may need to adjust the time.

Roll out dough onto pizza pan or parchment paper. If cooking with parchment paper I would recommend using a pizza stone. Bake pizza for 4 minutes at 450 degrees. (this may need to be adjusted as well depending on where you live)

Take pizza out and add the toppings of your liking. Put pizza back in for 4 more minutes.

And Done!!! So easy right!!! My kids love the recipe and we usually don't have many slices lift after...
